Online Presentations

While the Museum is closed for redevelopment, we’ll be creating online presentations about aspects of Weymouth’s history.

You can view these below, or on the Museum’s YouTube Channel.

Weymouth and D-Day

6 June 2024 saw the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Weymouth had an important role to play in the preparations for the invasion of the Normandy beaches. Find out about how the town hosted American troops before they left for France in our digital exhibition, and visit Nothe Fort to see more.

Fire at the Ritz!

Before the Pavilion Theatre was built, Weymouth’s theatre was a wooden building called the Ritz. It burned down in 1954. Weymouth Museum has some spectacular photographs of the fire which you can see in this presentation.

The new entrance facilities were only made possible through an emergency fund from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We have also benefitted from the active support of The Friends of Weymouth Museum.
